MTN Nigeria Receives Approval for Spectrum Acquisition

MTN Nigeria Communications, a leading telecommunications company in Nigeria, has received approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the transfer and assignment of a 10MHz frequency division duplex (FDD) in the 2.6GHz spectrum band. The transfer is from OpenSkys Services to MTN Nigeria.

The license transfer will take effect on September 7, 2023, with a renewal date scheduled for April 16, 2033. This acquisition of additional spectrum is expected to greatly enhance MTN Nigeria’s network capabilities and improve the quality of services provided to its customers nationwide.

By acquiring an additional 10MHz FDD in the 2.6GHz spectrum band, MTN Nigeria will be able to efficiently expand its network capacity and address its sustainability priorities. This milestone aligns with the company’s Ambition 2025 strategy.
