LG CNS Partners with Chinese Firm XYZ Robotics for E-Commerce Logistics Projects

South Korean IT solutions provider LG CNS has announced a collaboration with Chinese artificial intelligence-powered robotic solutions firm XYZ Robotics to carry out joint projects in domestic e-commerce logistics centers. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate XYZ Robotics’ robot solution into LG’s robotic integrated operations platform. The newly integrated platform will offer robot solutions as a service model, where clients pay based on their usage.

XYZ Robotics is known for its technology in the field of three-dimensional vision and its capabilities in designing and manufacturing grippers. LG CNS, on the other hand, has introduced its operations platform, which incorporates real-time analysis of customer orders using AI and big data, to optimize warehouse operations.

Under the partnership, the companies have implemented the platform’s palletizing and depalletizing robots at logistics centers in South Korea. A palletizing robot transfers, sorts, and stacks boxes or items onto a pallet, while a depalletizing robot unloads materials from a pallet onto a production line.

“The logistics automation market has transitioned to the robot transformation era, where robots are effectively utilized in every aspect,” said Lee Jun-ho, head of the smart logistics division at LG CNS.

In addition to the e-commerce logistics projects, LG CNS is also conducting a proof-of-concept project to transform a former gas station into a micro fulfillment center using its robot integrated operations platform and the Ieum 5G network. This demonstration project aims to verify the feasibility and potential of the concept.
