Only eight stocks on our Huntsville and Alabama Stock Report closed out the week Friday with a gain. Leading the way was Southern States Bancshares with a 3.6% increase. Southern States Bancshares is a bank holding company headquartered in Anniston, operating primarily through its wholly owned subsidiary, Southern States Bank. The bank offers a range of deposit, loan, and other banking-related products and services to businesses and individuals. It operates eight branches in Alabama and five in Georgia, along with a loan production office in Atlanta.
Another stock on the report was Adtran, the Huntsville-based telecommunications equipment company, which picked up 1.9%.
Overall, Wall Street ended the week with a broad slide for stocks. The S&P 500 experienced its second losing week in a row, falling 1.2%, its first loss in three days. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.8%, and the Nasdaq composite gave back 1.6%.
