NITDA Establishes Digital Economy Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced the establishment of a Digital Economy Centre (DEC) in Kafanchan, Kaduna state. The centre was approved by NITDA in response to a request made by Sunday Katung, the senator representing Kaduna South senatorial district.

The DEC in Kafanchan is part of NITDA’s efforts to promote Nigeria’s digital economy drive. NITDA has previously established similar centres in other parts of the country and plans to set up more in the future.

On Saturday, the equipment for the installations was delivered to Government Secondary School (GSS) Kafanchan, where the DEC is located. The equipment includes branded desktop computers, VSAT equipment, battery rack, and accessories, as well as HDMIVGA converters, solar panels, and a generator.

Simon Yusuf, the principal of GSS Kafanchan and also an official of NITDA, stated that the installation of the equipment would be completed within a week.

Senator Katung expressed his gratitude to NITDA for the prompt approval and action on his request. He believes that the DEC will be a “game changer” for unemployed youths in the area.

The establishment of the DEC in Kafanchan is expected to provide opportunities for digital skills development and support the growth of the digital economy in the region.
